Procedure for examination application submission for private candidates

  • Duly filled application in the prescribed format should be submitted to the respective regional office to be forwarded to the Board along with applicable examination fees. Students should also attach three copies of passport size photographs signed by them and countersigned by an authorized person of the CBSE as stipulated in their By Laws.
  • Students who send in their applications after the final date set for examination applications will be subject to late application fees.
  • If for any reason the application of a private candidate is rejected by the Board, the candidate will be able to claim a refund of his examination fees with a deduction of Rs. 10/-. However, if it is found out that such candidates has made their application on grounds of false representations and forged documents no refund will be applicable to the relevant candidate.
  •  Private candidates can only undertake subjects that are being currently taught at affiliated schools and they cannot request for permission to undertake any other subject deviating from the prescribed scheme of studies.
  •  Private candidates cannot undertake any subjects involving practical sessions. The only exception is for candidates who have previously undertaken practical sessions through regular course of studies as a regular candidate in an affiliated schoolof CBSE. In addition female private candidates are allowed to request for home science subjects with practical sessions.

If a student has not been able to secure advance to Class XII in an affiliated school or any other recognized educational Board, such students will not be able to seek admission as a private candidate to undertake Senior School Certificate Examination conducted by CBSE
